Three men from St. Louis, Missouri, have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Connecticut on a charge of conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Connecticut. Sedric Louis, 32, John Davis, 34, and Martel Williams, 27, are accused of being hired in August 2024 by an alleged mastermind to travel to Connecticut, where they were to follow and attempt to kidnap a man who had been involved in the theft of hundreds of millions of dollars in bitcoin, as well as the parents of that man. The goal was to compel the man to hand over cryptocurrency. The three men pulled back from the operation, prosecutors said, because they worried about being caught on surveillance cameras. A separate group of people from Florida later took over and carried out the actual kidnapping. All three defendants have appeared in court and pleaded not guilty.
